Salicylic Acid Peels

A step up in strength from glycolic acid in facial chemical peels is salicylic acid, also known as beta-hydroxy acid (BHA).

This acid formula traditionally results in more of an exfoliating of the skin and is often utilized for those with more severe acne or possible greater skin damage resulting from sun exposure. Results of this type of chemical peel include a smoother textured and brighter skin and marked improvement in acne lesions. Side effects will be red and irritated skin for a few days after the treatment. Patients should use spf 30 sun screen to protect new skin from exposure. Salicylic acid peels are often repeated to achieve desired results.
