What to Expect with Juvéderm®

Following an initial consultation, which includes a medical history and an examination to determine whether Juvéderm® is the best option for your needs, the Juvéderm® product is injected.

At Skin Deep Medical Spa, we use Juvéderm® Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. Anesthesia is not required prior to the procedure, but a topical gel or injectable anesthesia may be administered to numb the treatment area. Juvéderm® injections are given in the wrinkles and folds of your face. Following the injection, the treated areas of your face may be gently massaged. The entire procedure takes approximately 15 minutes.

You should avoid any medication that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammation drugs for at least a week prior to Juvéderm® treatment. This reduces the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

You should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages for the first 24 hours following treatment in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling and/or itching. You can apply an ice pack for a brief period to help alleviate any swelling at the injection site. You should follow our instructions on applying makeup over the treated area. Any special instructions will be reviewed with you following your procedure.

Most patients only need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and that treatment can last up to one year. Results may vary and corrections are temporary.
